I don't normally (ever) do commissions where I'm aping another style, but I accepted this one on a whim. I learned a lot, mostly from what it was clear I'd done wrong once it was all done, though. Still, it was a fun one.

I love it when I get commissioned to do characters I have a lot of affection for. Grayson's always a favorite, even in his silly original Nightwing duds (which isn't really that bad a costume outside of the Luke Cage neckline).

I had a work schedule kerfuffle and I’m left with some time to kill! Starting Friday I’ll be open for commissions again, and I’m looking to take as many as I can handle.

Triumph of the Goofballs

My two favorite super villains of all time are Black Manta and Mysterio, so I have a real soft spot for comics' less-than-sinister n'er-do-wells. It made this recent pair of commissions all the more fun, getting to show some of the lesser known bad guys trouncing their more famous counterparts. The one above is of DC's the Lord of time trouncing Marvel's Kang the Conquerer.

And this one has Captain Marvel's foe Mister Atom making short work of Brainiac and Ultron. I fell in love with Mister Atom while doing this. He looks so much like somebody Astro Boy would have punched in the face. Hope you guys like em.

Doctor Who "Journey's End" Commission

Rose Tyler and the Duplicate Doctor as they appeared in the series four finale "Journey's End", for a very nice fellow Whovian. I'm not the best with likenesses, but I did alright here I think--the Doctor could stand to have a weaker chin but that's what drawing superheroes all day gets you. Fun to do and it reminded me of how much I loved the Tennant series, which I'd forgotten, being all caught up in Matt Smith's run.

Firestorm Commission

Here's a Firestorm I just did for an awesome cat! I'd never drawn the character before, so it was fun for sure. You can't get much more "It's 1978 and you're reading a DC comic book" than Firestorm.

Wrecking Crew commission

Kind of a fun commission--this guy and his friends play some Marvel Comics Magic the Gathering-type card game that's no longer in production, so they make their own cards for private use and wanted some original art for them. The background was misappropriated and edited, but a BG wasn't part of the commission price, and it's not a commercial card so everybody be cool. 

I have a soft spot for the Wrecking Crew. None of their designs are very inspired, but I kinda like the idea that some people who get super powers at Marvel just don't have a flare for names or costumes and just kind of wear whatever. Almost invariably these types of characters are villains, but Kitty Pryde and Cannonball have worn some hard-looking disasters, too. They can't all be Dr. Doom.

Hack/Slash sketch card commissions

Had a couple blank sketch cards lying around from last Halloween's Hack/Slash set, ended up being commissioned to do these by a nice guy in the UK--one of Vlad, one of Cassie. I tend to use pretty simple colouring when I do these, both because I'm a sucky colourist and it's fun to see how far you can make the simple application go. Given that, I was really pleased with the way the chalkboard came out--neat effect, I think.

2nd Omega Guardians Commission

This is my second outting doing a commission piece for Ursa Magnus and friends, interpreting their original superhero characters the Omega Guardians. Tried to mix things up a bit this time and do more of a poster shot of the group--Jetleg and Inker Guy are especially really neat designs. Check them out on deviantART!

She-Hulk commission

Commission I did for a cool dude by the name of Andrew for the Toronto Comicon last week.  Me on pencils and inks, Captain Adam Metcalfe on gorgeous colors--it's posted up on his blog as well.  He's my tag team partner for this sort of thing, so if you order a commish from us, this is a decent sample of what we do. 

Portrait commission process

Okay, not really a process thing and not really a portrait, but it is a commission so I'm kind of speaking truth.  These entries get hard to name.  This is for a client (and, okay, friend) for her twitter and website.  Hence the craptacular last second watermark.  I get to keep publication rights so here it is here.
